Custom stonework and hardscaping project for a Sonoma County property, built by RE Landscape Sonoma

What's Included

Real Hardscaping, Built for Your Sonoma County Property

Hardscaping that isn't engineered right doesn't just look wrong — it cracks, shifts, and pools water within a year or two. Every hardscape project at RE Landscape Sonoma starts with proper site assessment and base preparation, not just materials poured over bare dirt.

We build hardscape features for homeowners in Sonoma, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Windsor, Napa, Cotati, Novato, and San Rafael.

On-Site Assessment

We visit your property in person — whether it's a sloped lot in Sonoma or a flat backyard in Santa Rosa — and assess soil, grade, and drainage before recommending anything.

Engineered Base & Drainage

Proper excavation, compaction, and drainage planning underneath every patio, walkway, and wall — the part you never see, but the part that determines whether it lasts.

Premium Material Sourcing

Natural stone, pavers, and finishes chosen for durability in Sonoma County's climate as much as for how they'll look against your home.

Transparent Cost Estimate

A clear, itemized estimate before you commit to anything — no vague ballpark numbers and no surprise costs once installation begins.

The Hardscaping Process

From Site Assessment to Finished Stonework

Four steps, one crew from start to finish — whether your property is in Petaluma or out toward Novato.

Step 1

Site Assessment

We walk your property in person, whether it's a level lot in Petaluma or a sloped hillside elsewhere in Sonoma County, and evaluate soil, drainage, and grade before recommending anything.

Step 2

Materials & Estimate

You choose from curated stone and paver options, and receive a clear, itemized estimate before any work begins — whether the project is in Santa Rosa or anywhere else we serve.

Step 3

Installation

Proper excavation, compaction, and base prep come first — then the visible stonework. Our crew cleans the site daily and keeps you updated at every stage, from Novato to anywhere else in Sonoma County.

Step 4

Final Walkthrough

We walk the finished hardscape with you, point-by-point, before calling it done. If anything's not right, we fix it — simple as that.

Why It Matters

Hardscaping Done Right Lasts Decades, Not Just a Season

Cheap hardscaping doesn't stay cheap for long — cracked pavers, shifting stone, and pooling water usually show up within a year or two of a rushed install. Proper base prep and drainage planning are what actually determine whether your patio or wall holds up.

No cracking or shifting later. Proper excavation and compaction prevent the settling and heaving that ruins rushed or bargain installs.

A cohesive look, not mismatched materials. Hardscape is planned alongside your overall landscape, so stone, plantings, and lighting work as one design.

Built for how you'll actually use it. Patios and walkways sized and laid out for real entertaining and daily use — not just whatever's cheapest to pour.

Is This Right For You?

Who This Hardscaping Service Is For

We'd rather be upfront about fit than waste your time — or ours.

This is a great fit if you…

  • Own a home or property in Sonoma County and have a patio, walkway, retaining wall, or other stonework project in mind
  • Want it engineered right — proper base prep and drainage, not just materials poured over bare dirt
  • Are dealing with a cracked patio, shifting pavers, or a failing retaining wall that needs to be done right this time
  • Are pairing hardscape with a broader landscape design, or already have a design in hand
  • Want it done once, done right — not the cheapest version that needs redoing in a couple of years

This might not be the right fit if you…

  • Just need routine mowing or basic yard upkeep — that's our Landscape Maintenance service, not hardscaping
  • Are shopping purely on lowest price rather than long-term durability
  • Need work completed within a day or two — proper excavation and curing time can't be rushed
  • Are located outside Sonoma County and the surrounding North Bay

If that sounds like you, let's talk about your property.

The before-and-after transformation blew us away. The crew was careful with our deck and followed every instruction we gave — we found our regular gardener.

Rafael's crew built us a beautiful crushed stone garden border and were meticulous about cleaning up afterward. Quality, affordable work — we'd recommend them to anyone.

Common Questions

Hardscaping FAQ

Not necessarily. Many hardscape projects — a single patio, walkway, or wall — don't require a full design phase. If you'd like a fully coordinated look across your whole property, we're happy to combine both.

It depends on scope, but most patio and walkway projects move quickly once materials are on-site — whether the property is in Rohnert Park or further out toward Windsor. We'll give you a clear timeline before work starts.

We flag it immediately and walk you through the fix before proceeding — no disappearing mid-project and no surprises you find out about later.

Both. We handle everything from a single walkway repair in Cotati to full estate-scale stonework elsewhere in Sonoma County.

Yes. If you already have a design — from us or elsewhere — we can build directly to that plan rather than starting from scratch.

We provide hardscaping and installation services throughout Sonoma County and the North Bay, including Sonoma, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Windsor, Napa, Cotati, Novato, and San Rafael. Not sure if your property falls in range? Just give us a call and we'll tell you honestly.
